Digital Chocolate has broken into the world of Zombie-themed games on Facebook with the release of Zombie Lane. We brought you a preview of Zombie Lane earlier this month, but the game is now officially available to play on the platform. The game will have you creating your own avatar that you will represent you as you fight the undead scourge, and help create a safe zone in your own backyard.
Zombie Lane is called a "survival" game in that you must do everything in your power to survive. You'll find new weapons (or will be given them) at various intervals (you start with a shovel, but are quickly upgraded to a shotgun, for instance), and you'll then use these weapons to attack the zombies that are forever rising from the ground around your yard. Your yard is fenced in, but zombies will try to break the fencing and come after your brains, as zombies most often do.
While the game may be fairly original in its design, Zombie Lane does take a few gameplay elements from other established Facebook games (like FrontierVille). You'll have an energy system that will only allow you to kill so many zombies at once, and you'll receive bonus coins, experience points, and energy as drops from completed tasks. Picking up these bonus items in rapid succession goes to build a combo meter (think bonus bar), which, when filled, rewards you with even more coins.
As your starting yard looks as though it has been hit by a tornado, you'll receive a series of missions that take you through a fairly basic story in the game, introducing you to other characters, and seeing you repair your home and fence to actually withstand stronger attacks from the undead. You'll need to clear piles of rubble to gather bricks to rebuild the house, for instance. As you complete tasks, you'll become closer and closer to the state when you can bring your spouse into the game with you, which is as much of a nod to FrontierVille as I've ever seen in a game.
While you're trying to accomplish these construction tasks, it's likely that zombies will be trying to make you their lunch, so you can use your coins to purchase ammo refills for your shotgun, or use items like energy boosts from your inventory (they can also be purchased with Food - yes, there is time to farm while the zombie apocalypse is nigh). The game's premium currency is straight Facebook Credits, and these can be used to purchase permanent boosts to your total energy, decorations (as what's a restored neighborhood without bushes and Adirondack chairs on the porch?) and other items.
There are collection items to earn here (which also drop from defeated enemies), which earn you various amounts of coins and XP, and the game also comes with an achievement set, but you must level up to receive it.
All told, this isn't the first zombie themed Facebook game we've seen released, and we doubt it will be the last, but Digital Chocolate does seem to offer a sense of polish with this game as they do on all of their others. I'll likely be sticking with this one for a while, and you're more than welcome to join me.

CityVille Mystery Gifts offer coins, goods, energy and more
Zynga has launched a system of Mystery Gifts in CityVille. These Mystery Gifts look to contain a slew of different items, including, but not limited to, City Cash, coins, Goods, energy, experience points, and "other surprises." Unfortunately, we haven't been told what quantities these items will be given out in; that is, how many Goods or how many energy points you might receive from a single gift, but there are other reasons to send these gifts out, besides just some free coins.
Zynga has added at least one premium prize to the Mystery Gift - the Basketball Court, which is valued at 25 City Cash. Just by heading to the free gifts page, you can send these Mystery Gifts to your friends, with the hope of receiving a free Basketball Court, and your friends can return the favor.
We'll be sure to let you know if we come across any other noteworthy items being given away in the Mystery Gift, so keep checking back.
Check out the rest of our CityVille Cheats & Tips right here.
What do you think of the CityVille Mystery Gift? Would you rather simply have more variety of gifts available on the free gifts page, instead of being able to send a random prize?

FarmVille: Neighbors' crops show as withered with new bug
Users over on the FarmVille forums never miss a beat, as today they have discovered a new bug that has run through the majority of players' games. This bug allows you to visit your friends' farms as normal, but shows all of their crops as being withered. When visiting these friends, and choosing to spend your five daily actions, you can "un-wither" five plots of land, but as it turns out, those crops really aren't withered in the vast majority of cases.
From my own experience, having daily players in the 90-100 level range that suddenly have withered crops [see above] just didn't make sense. After confirming with a few of them, their crops are just fine, and the fact that I'm seeing them as withered is just a glitch or bug, if you will. We're not sure if your actions on those particular plots of crops actually has an effect, however. It could be that you'll actually end up "fertilizing" their land, rather than "un-withering" crops, but either way, make a note of this new bug so you don't inadvertently remove active players from your friends' list because it appears as though they've stopped playing. In all likelihood, they're seeing withered crops on your own farm as well.
Have you spotted this withered crop bug in your own game?

FarmVille English Countryside Avatar Clothing: Tea Party Hat I, Tea Party Dress II, & more
In a small FarmVille update this evening, Zynga has added four new options to the clothing section of the game's marketplace in the current English Countryside theme. The four items actually form two complete outfits, and are able to be mix-and-matched into the perfect ensemble for your avatar. These items are two Tea Party Dresses, and two Tea Party Hats.
The two pairs of items vary in terms of color, but are overall very similar in their structure. Both of the hats costs 5 Farm Cash, and again, either of these hats can be warn with either dress, which cost 10 Farm Cash each. All four of these items will be available to add to your clothing wardrobe for the next two weeks.
We'll make sure to let you know if some male-centric clothing items are added to the theme in the future as well.

FrontierVille Horse Corral: Everything you need to know
Are you ready to be able to ride your very own horse in FrontierVille? Even if the concept had never crossed your mind before, you'll soon be given the option of doing just that, as a new building, and a new set of horses is slowly being rolled out to users in a new update. The new building is called the Horse Corral, and it must be constructed before you can take advantage of this new feature.
The Horse Corral will be purchasable from the store for just 10 coins and 5 wood. This makes us think the building is incredibly important, if Zynga is practically giving it away (perhaps it will be used as part of another feature in the future?) so it's likely in your best interest to purchase and build one. The Corral needs to be whacked 30 times, with each time costing 7 Wood. Once the frame has been built, you'll need to go to work finishing the building's construction by collecting six different building materials: 10 each of Horse Salt Licks, Hay Nets, and Bags of Stone Grit which can all be asked for via general wall posts, and 15 each of Gate Hitches, Lunge Lines, and Fence Beams, which are earned through individual friend requests.
Once you've finished the entire Corral, you'll be able to purchase three different horses:
Mustang: 45 Horseshoes
Thoroughbred: 80 Horseshoes
Quarter Horse: 40,000 coins
You can name your horses, and your entire family can have their own horse to ride in the game. You'll be taught how to ride and dismount your horse, and as you ride them and complete actions around your Homestead, your horse itself will gain experience points and level up.
Remember, this feature is on a very slow rollout right now, so if you don't see a Horse Corral in your own game, please be patient as it will be coming around to you soon. Also, since the feature is so new, all of the intricate details aren't yet known, but we'll make sure to update you with all of the important information as soon as we know more. What we do know, however, is that there is apparently a five-part quest series to complete concerning the Horse Corral as well, so check out our full guide to those goals to learn what to expect.

FrontierVille Horse Corral Quests: Everything you need to know
While we've already brought you the news concerning the new Horse Corral building in FrontierVille, which will allow you to ride and eventually level up your own set of horses for your entire in-game family, you'll really know this update has come around to your game when a set of Horse Corral quests appears for you to complete. There are five Horse Corral quests in all, so let's jump right in, shall we?
The first quest will have you placing your new Horse Corral building on your land, so don't delay in doing so.
Place the Horse Corral
Hire Bess one time
Have 1,000 Wood
You'll unfortunately lose this wood when you complete the mission, so make sure you've created everything you need to for other missions before losing out on this large amount. Finishing this mission rewards you with 100 XP and 1 Hay Hook, which is part of the Barn Collection.
Part II of V requires you to have completed the entire construction process on the Horse Corral (check out our guide for all of the info on doing so), but luckily there are two other somewhat lengthy tasks that can occupy your time while waiting for the construction materials to arrive.
Customize the Horse Corral
Collect 15 Horse Beddings
Hire Five Neighbors
The Horse Bedding looks to be collected from a general wall post, but remember, this information is extremely premature at this point, and could change at any time. Finishing this quest gives you 125 XP and 5 Ribbon.
Part III of V has you helping out at your neighbors' homesteads, along with tending and harvesting some items on your own.
Clear 10 Neighbor Debris
Tend 80 Apple Trees
Harvest 65 Corn
Luckily, Corn takes 12 hours to grow, which gives you plenty of time to wait around for your Apple Trees to become ready to harvest every 30 minutes until you reach the 80 necessary in total. Finishing this third quest gives you 150 XP and 10 Cloth.
Part IV of V has you dealing more with the Horse Corral and Horses themselves, getting back to the main theme of the quest.
Place one Horse on your Homestead
Collect 15 Horse Blankets
Collect Daily Bonus from Horse Corral 2 Times
Horse Blankets look to be earned via individual requests sent to your neighbors. Meanwhile, it's unknown right now as to whether or not a Horse that you already have on your land will count for this task, or if you'll need to purchase a new one from the Horse Corral, but we can only expect it to be the latter. Finishing this quest gives you 200 XP and 1 Horse Grooming Brush.
Finally, Part V of V of these new Horse Corral missions sees you actually putting your Horses to work, by learning how to Mount and Dismount a Horse to ride around your land.
Mount a Horse
Dismount a Horse
Harvest 40 Peppermint Trees
Finishing this final Horse Corral mission will reward you with 300 XP and a Sugar Cube Treat, an item that can be given to your Horse, apparently rewarding some kind of bonus (we'll let you know what that means as we learn more).
All things considered, this mission set looks to be one that will last you a matter of a few days, even if not by choice (see the hiring friends task above). However, with our handy guide, you should be able to prepare as much as possible for when these quests do hit your land, which is all we can really ask for at this point.

FrontierVille Corral Collection offers Carrot Treat for your Horses
Along with the slow rollout of the Horse Corral building and the Horse Corral quest set in FrontierVille this evening, Zynga has launched a new collection that should be available to view by all players, regardless of whether or not the building and quests have rolled out to your game. The new collection is the Corral Collection, and it contains five new items in the theme.
Here's what to keep an eye out for:
Riding Crop
Saddle Blanket
Hoof Pick
Riding Boots
Halter
You'll find the items for this collection either by whacking the frame of the Horse Corral as you build it, or by collecting the Daily Bonus from the Corral once it's been completed. Turning in this Corral Collection gives you a Carrot Treat that you can feed to one of your Horses, along with 25 XP.
What do you think of the prize for the Horse Collection? Would you rather purchase the Carrot Treat in the market than be forced to find these items to earn one?
